আগেই জানা গিয়েছিল, চিরাচরিত সেমিফাইনাল বাদ দিয়ে নতুন ফরম্যাটে হবে এবারের ফেডারেশন কাপ ফুটবল। বুধবার টুর্নামেন্টের ড্র অনুষ্ঠানে আসলো তার আনুষ্ঠানিক ঘোষণা।এবারের ফেডারেশন কাপ হবে দুই গ্রুপে। গতবারের চ্যাম্পিয়ন বসুন্ধরা কিংস ও রানার্সআপ মোহামেডানকে দুই গ্রুপের শীর্ষে রেখে লটারির মাধ্যমে বাকি দলগুলোকে ফেলা হয়।
‘বি’ গ্রুপে মোহামেডানের সাথে পড়েছে আবাহনী, চট্টগ্রাম আবাহনী, রহমতগঞ্জ ও ফকিরের পুল ইয়ংমেন্স ক্লাব । ‘এ’ গ্রুপে বসুন্ধরা কিংস, পুলিশ ফুটবল ক্লাব, ফর্টিস এফসি, ব্রাদার্স ও ঢাকা ওয়ান্ডারর্স ক্লাব। গ্রুপপর্বের খেলা হবে সিঙ্গেল লিগ ভিত্তিতে। দুই গ্রুপের সেরা চার দল উঠে যাবে পরের পর্বে। সেমিফাইনালের পরিবর্তে হবে কোয়ালিফায়ার্স। দুই গ্রুপ সেরা দলের মধ্যে হবে প্রথম কোয়ালিফায়ার্স।
গ্রুপ এ: বসুন্ধরা কিংস, পুলিশ এফসি, ফর্টিজ এফসি, ব্রাদার্স ইউনিয়ন, ঢাকা ওয়ান্ডারার্স ক্লাব।
গ্রুপ বি: মোহামেডান, আবাহনী, চট্টগ্রাম আবাহনী, রহমতগঞ্জ, ফকিরেরপুল ইয়ংমেন্স ক্লাব।
