নোবেলজয়ী অর্থনীতিবিদ ড. মুহাম্মদ ইউনূসের বিরুদ্ধে শ্রম আইনের পাঁচ মামলার কার্যক্রম বাতিল করে হাইকোর্টের দেওয়া রায় বহাল রেখেছেন সুপ্রিম কোর্টের আপিল বিভাগ। এই আদেশের ফলে পাঁচ মামলার কার্যক্রম বাতিল করে হাইকোর্টের দেওয়া রায়ই বহাল রইলো বলে জানান ড. ইউনূসের পক্ষের আইনজীবী।
হাইকোর্টের রায়ের বিরুদ্ধে রাষ্ট্রপক্ষের করা লিভ টু আপিল রোববার (৮ নভেম্বর) খারিজ করে দেন বিচারপতি আশফাকুল ইসলামের নেতৃত্বাধীন তিন বিচারপতির আপিল বিভাগের বেঞ্চ। আদালতে এদিন ড. ইউনূসের পক্ষে শুনানি করেন সিনিয়র আইনজীবী ব্যারিস্টার মো. মুস্তাফিজুর রহমান খান। আর রাষ্ট্রপক্ষে শুনানি করেন অতিরিক্ত অ্যাটর্নি জেনারেল অনিক আর হক।
গত ২৪ অক্টোবর বিচারপতি এ কে এম আসাদুজ্জামান ও বিচারপতি সৈয়দ এনায়েত হোসেনের সমন্বয়ে গঠিত হাইকোর্ট বেঞ্চ ড. মুহাম্মদ ইউনূসের বিরুদ্ধে শ্রম আইনের এই পাঁচ মামলায় ও মানহানির এক মামলার কার্যক্রম বাতিল করে রায় দেন।
ড. ইউনূসের নামে যখন শ্রম আদালতে পৃথক পাঁচটি মামলা হয়, তখন তিনি গ্রামীণ টেলিকমিউনিকেশন্সের চেয়ারম্যান ছিলেন। প্রস্তাবিত ট্রেড ইউনিয়ন ঘিরে কর্মীর চাকরিচ্যুতির অভিযোগ তুলে ২০১৯ সালে এসব মামলা করা হয়।
