চ্যাম্পিয়ন্স ট্রফিতে নিজেদের দ্বিতীয় ম্যাচে আগামীকাল মাঠে নামবে নিউজিল্যান্ড। যেখানে তাদের প্রতিপক্ষ বাংলাদেশ। কিউইরা প্রথম ম্যাচ জিতে ভালো অবস্থানেই রয়েছে, তবে প্রথম ম্যাচে হেরেছিল টাইগাররা। সাম্প্রতিক ফর্ম কিংবা শক্তিমত্তা সবদিক বিবেচনায় টাইগারদের চেয়ে এগিয়ে নিউজিল্যান্ড। তারপরও বাংলাদেশকে হালকাভাবে দেখছেন না নিউজিল্যান্ড অধিনায়ক মিচেল স্যান্টনার।
আগামীকাল সোমবার বাংলাদেশের মুখোমুখি হবে নিউজিল্যান্ড। রাওয়ালপিন্ডিতে ম্যাচটি শুরু হবে বাংলাদেশ সময় বিকাল ৩ টায়। ম্যাচের আগের দিন আজ ম্যাচপূর্ববর্তী সংবাদ সম্মেলনে এসে স্যান্টনার বলেন, ‘আমরা তাদের হালকাভাবে নিচ্ছি না। নিজেদের দিনে তারা যেকোনো দলকে হারাতে পারে। তবে আশা করি আমাদের পারবে না।’
স্যান্টনার অবশ্য আলাদা করে প্রশংসা করেছেন বাংলাদেশের পেস বোলিং ইউনিটের, ‘তারা এখন খুবই ভালো দল। স্পিনের পাশাপাশি পেসেও ভালো করছে। তাসকিন দীর্ঘদিন ধরে ভালো করছে। আমরা জানি ফিজ কত ভালো হতে পারে। রানা খুব দ্রুত বল করে। আমরা তাদের বিপক্ষে হোম অ্যান্ড অ্যাওয়ে অনেক ম্যাচ খেলেছি। তারাও আমাদের চেনে। আমরা আমাদের পরিকল্পনা অনুযায়ী খেলব।’
ম্যাচের উইকেট নিয়ে স্যান্টনার বলেন, ‘বাংলাদেশকে নিয়ে কিছু পরিকল্পনা তো আছেই। তবে আমাদের আগে দেখতে হবে উইকেট কেমন আচরণ করছে। করাচিতে উইকেট ফ্ল্যাট ছিল। বাংলাদেশের লাইনআপে বিধ্বংসী কয়েকজন ব্যাটার আছে। রাওয়ালপিন্ডি হাই স্কোরিং গ্রাউন্ড।’
