২০২৪ সালে জাপানের খাদ্যপণ্যের রপ্তানি রেকর্ড উচ্চতায় পৌঁছেছে। জাপানের সামুদ্রিক মাছ আমদানির ওপর চীনের নিষেধাজ্ঞার পরেও দেশটির রপ্তানি বেড়েছে উল্লেখযোগ্য হারে। ফুকুশিমার পারমাণবিক বিদ্যুৎকেন্দ্রের পানি সাগরে ছাড়ার পর চীন ওই নিষেধাজ্ঞা আরোপ করেছিল। মঙ্গলবার (৪ ফেব্রুয়ারি) জাপানের কৃষি, বন ও মৎস্য মন্ত্রণালয় (এমএএফএফ) জানিয়েছে, ২০২৪ সালে এক দশমিক ৫০৭ ট্রিলিয়ন ইয়েন বা ৯ দশমিক ৭ বিলিয়ন ডলারের খাদ্যপণ্য রপ্তানি করা হয়। যা ২০২৩ সালের এক দশমিক ৪৫৪ ট্রিলিয়ন ইয়েন থেকে বেশি।
এমএএফএফ-এর রপ্তানি নীতি পরিকল্পনা বিভাগের উপ-পরিচালক কাজুয়োশি নাকাসুগি বলেছেন, যুক্তরাষ্ট্র ও এশিয়ার অন্যান্য অংশে শক্তিশালী রপ্তানি এক্ষেত্রে অবদান রেখেছে। তাছাড়া জাপানে একদিকে যেমন রেস্তোরাঁ বাড়ছে তেমনি নানা ধরনের খাবারও জনপ্রিয় হচ্ছে। মূলত বিদেশি পর্যটকের সংখ্যা বাড়ায় এমন প্রবৃদ্ধি দেখা যাচ্ছে।
জাপানের খাদ্য রপ্তানি চীনে ২৯ দশমিক ১ শতাংশ বাড়লেও যুক্তরাষ্ট্রে ১৭ দশমিক ৮ শতাংশ বেড়েছে। ভিয়েতনাম ও থাইল্যান্ডে এক্ষেত্রে জাপানের রপ্তানি বেড়েছে ২৩ শতাংশের বেশি। তাছাড়া তাইওয়ান, দক্ষিণ কোরিয়া ও ইউরোপে রপ্তানি বেড়েছে ১১ থেকে ২০ শতাংশের কাছাকাছি।
