রোববার (২ ফেব্রুয়ারি) গণমাধ্যমকে এ তথ্য জানান বিএনপির মিডিয়া সেলের সদস্য শায়রুল কবির খান। তিনি জানান, বিকেলে পাকিস্তান দূতাবাস থেকে বিএনপি চেয়ারপারসনের কার্যালয়ে চিঠিটি পাঠানো হয়েছে।
চিঠিতে খালেদা জিয়ার উদ্দেশে ৩১ জানুয়ারি শেহবাজ শরীফ লিখেছেন, আমি আপনার (খালেদা জিয়া) স্বাস্থ্য সমস্যা সম্পর্কে জানতে পেরে উদ্বিগ্ন। সুস্থতা কামনা করে তিনি লিখেছেন, আমি আপনার সুস্বাস্থ্য এবং মঙ্গল কামনা করি। সর্বশক্তিমান আল্লাহ আপনাকে সব অসুস্থতা থেকে রক্ষা করুন এবং সুস্বাস্থ্য দান করুন।
পাকিস্তান বিএনপির চেয়ারপারসন, তার পরিবার এবং দলের সমর্থকদের সঙ্গে আছে বলেও আশ্বস্ত করেন শেহবাজ। চিঠিতে খালেদা জিয়ার রাজনৈতিক এবং বর্ণাঢ্য জীবনের উল্লেখ করে পাকিস্তানের প্রধানমন্ত্রী আরও লিখেছেন, আপনি বাংলাদেশের রাজনৈতিক দৃশ্যে একটি বিশাল ব্যক্তিত্ব। জনসেবার প্রতি আপনার অবিচল প্রতিশ্রুতি অনেকের জন্য অনুপ্রেরণা হয়ে রয়েছে।
