যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের ‘ন্যাশনাল প্রেয়ার ব্রেকফাস্ট’ অনুষ্ঠানে যোগ দিতে ঢাকা ছেড়েছেন বিএনপি মহাসচিব মির্জা ফখরুল ইসলাম আলমগীর ও দলটির স্থায়ী কমিটির সদস্য আমীর খসরু মাহমুদ চৌধুরী।রোববার (২ ফেব্রুয়ারি) সন্ধ্যা সাড়ে ৬টায় এমিরেটস এয়ারলাইন্সের একটি ফ্লাইটে ওয়াশিংটনের উদ্দেশ্যে রওয়ানা করেন তারা।

যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের ‘ন্যাশনাল প্রেয়ার ব্রেকফাস্ট’ অনুষ্ঠানে যোগ দিচ্ছেন বিএনপির তিন সদস্যের প্রতিনিধিদল। অনুষ্ঠানে বিএনপির ভারপ্রাপ্ত চেয়ারম্যান তারেক রহমানের পরিবর্তে যাচ্ছেন মেয়ে জাইমা রহমান। তিনি লন্ডন থেকে অনুষ্ঠানে যোগ দেবেন। এদিকে ঢাকা ছাড়ার আগে হযরত শাহজালাল আন্তর্জাতিক বিমানবন্দরে সাংবাদিকদের সঙ্গে কথা বলেন মির্জা ফখরুল ও আমীর খসরু। বিএনপি মহাসচিব সফরকালে দেশবাসীর কাছে দোয়া চেয়েছেন।

আমীর খসরু মাহমুদ চৌধুরী বলেন, ভারপ্রাপ্ত চেয়ারম্যান তারেক রহমানের প্রতিনিধিত্ব করবেন তার কন্যা জাইমা রহমান। যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের রাজধানী ওয়াশিংটন ডিসিতে আগামী ৫ ও ৬ ফেব্রুয়ারি ‘ন্যাশনাল প্রেয়ার ব্রেকফাস্ট’ অনুষ্ঠান হবে। গত ১১ জানুয়ারি বিএনপির ভারপ্রাপ্ত চেয়ারম্যান তারেক রহমান, মহাসচিব মির্জা ফখরুল ইসলাম আলমগীর ও দলটির স্থায়ী কমিটির সদস্য আমীর খসরু মাহমুদ চৌধুরীকে মার্কিন কংগ্রেসের আয়োজিত ‘ন্যাশনাল প্রেয়ার ব্রেকফাস্ট’ কমিটি চিঠি দিয়ে আমন্ত্রণ জানায়। এ অনুষ্ঠান যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের জাতীয় ও আন্তর্জাতিক নেতাদের মধ্যে সংলাপের একটি প্ল্যাটফর্ম।
