আলোচিত এস আলম গ্রুপের চেয়ারম্যান মোহাম্মদ সাইফুল আলম (এস আলম) ও তার পরিবারের সদস্যদের নামে ১২৫টি ব্যাংক হিসাব অবরুদ্ধকরণের নির্দেশ দিয়েছেন আদালত। বৃহস্পতিবার (১৯ ডিসেম্বর) দুদকের আবেদনের পরিপ্রেক্ষিতে ঢাকা মহানগর সিনিয়র স্পেশাল জজ আদালতের অবকাশকালীন বিচারক ইব্রাহীম মিয়া এ আদেশ দেন।
দুদকের আবেদনে বলা হয়, এস আলম গ্রুপের চেয়ারম্যান মোহাম্মদ সাইফুল আলম ও তার পরিবারের সদস্যদের বিরুদ্ধে সিঙ্গাপুর, ব্রিটিশ ভার্জিন আইল্যান্ড, সাইপ্রাস ও অন্যান্য দেশে ১ বিলিয়ন ডলার পাচারের অভিযোগ অনুসন্ধানকালে তার ও তার পরিবারের সদস্যদের নামে ফার্স্ট সিকিউরিটি ইসলামী ব্যাংক পিএলসির বিভিন্ন শাখার ১২৫টি হিসাবে জমাকৃত ২২ কোটি ৬৫ লাখ ৪৯ হাজার ১৯১ টাকা মানিলন্ডারিং প্রতিরোধ আইন, ২০১২ এর ১৪ ধারা অনুযায়ী অবরুদ্ধ করা প্রয়োজন। এসব হিসাবে বিপুল পরিমাণ অর্থ থাকার বিষয়টি অস্বাভাবিক ও সন্দেহজনক।
আবেদনে আরও বলা হয়, এস আলম গ্রুপের চেয়ারম্যান মোহাম্মদ সাইফুল আলম ও তার পরিবারের সদস্যদের অবৈধভাবে উপার্জিত অর্থ গোপনের উদ্দেশ্যে ব্যাংক হিসাবসমূহে জমা রেখেছেন। যেকোনো সময় এ অর্থ উত্তোলন করে বিদেশে পাচার বা গোপন করার সম্ভাবনা রয়েছে।
