সকালবেলা আমির যে জন, ফকির সন্ধ্যা বেলা। মিচেল স্টার্কের যেন হয়েছে এমন দশা। গতবারের আইপিএল নিলামে রেকর্ড দামে অসি পেসতারকাকে কিনেছিল কলকাতা নাইট রাইডার্স (কেকেআর)। এবার তার সঙ্গে যোগাযোগই করেনি তারা!
যদিও নিলামে কী হবে, সেটি বলা এখনই সম্ভব নয়। তবে কেকেআর যে এবার স্টার্কের প্রতি আগ্রহ দেখায়নি, তাতে ভীষণ হতাশ অস্ট্রেলিয়ার এই স্পিড স্টার।
‘দ্য টেলিগ্রাফ’কে দেওয়া এক প্রতিক্রিয়ায় স্টার্ক বলেছেন, ‘আমি এখনও তাদের কাছ থেকে কিছু বার্তা পাইনি। এটাই ফ্র্যাঞ্চাইজি ক্রিকেট! এবার হাদরাবাদের ছেলেদের (ট্র্যাভিস হেড এবং প্যাট কামিন্স) নাম বাদে সবার নাম অকশনে (নিলাম) উঠবে।’
কেকেআর মিচেল স্টার্ককে ছেড়ে দেওয়ার ঘটনায় অনেকেই অবাক হয়েছেন। বিশেষত প্লে অফে তার অনবদ্য পারফরম্যান্সের পর। ২০২৪ আইপিএলে স্টার্ক কেকেআরের হয়ে ১৪ ম্যাচে ১৭ উইকেট নিয়েছিলেন। যদিও গ্ৰুপপর্বের ম্যাচে কিছুটা খারাপ ফর্মে দেখা গিয়েছিল তাকে।
শুধু স্টার্ক নন, নাইট রাইডার্স অনেক তারকা ক্রিকেটারকেই ধরে না রাখার সিদ্ধান্ত নিয়েছে এবার। ছেড়ে দেওয়া হয়েছে অধিনায়ক শ্রেয়াস আইয়ারকেও। ধরে রাখা হয়েছে রিঙ্কু সিং, আন্দ্রে রাসেল, সুনিল নারিন, বরুণ চক্রবর্তী, রমনদীপ সিং এবং হর্ষিত রানাকে।
বেশিরভাগ অস্ট্রেলিয়ান ক্রিকেটারেরই এবার রিটেনশনে শিঁকে ছেড়েনি। এখন আইপিএল ২০২৫-এর মেগা অকশনের দিকে তাকিয়ে থাকতে হবে তাদের। মেগা অকশন ২৪-২৫ নভেম্বর।
