সব নাটকীকতা আর অপেক্ষার অবসান ঘটিয়ে অবশেষে মাঠে গড়াচ্ছে আইসিসি ওয়ানডে বিশ্বকাপের ১৩তম আসর।
বৃহস্পতিবার উদ্বোধনী ম্যাচে মাঠে নামবে গত আসরের চ্যাম্পিয়ন ইংল্যান্ড এবং রানার্সআপ নিউজিল্যান্ড।
মূল আসর মাঠে গড়ানোর আগে আজ বুধবার বিশ্বকাপে অংশগ্রহণকারী ১০ দলের অধিনায়কেরা মিটিং করবেন। ক্যাপ্টেন্স মিট নামের এই মিটিং শেষে অধিনায়করা যোগ দেবেন দলের সঙ্গে।
সাকিব-বাবর-রোহিতদের এই মিটিং শুরু হবে বিকাল ৩টায়। সেই মিটিংয়ে আনুষ্ঠানিকভাবে কুশলাদি বিনিময় করবেন অধিনায়করা।
বিশ্বকাপের এই আসরটি মাঠে গড়ানোর আগেই জন্ম দিয়েছে নানা আলোচনার। ভারত-পাকিস্তান রাজনৈতিক ঝামেলার কারণে আসরটি মাঠে গড়ানো নিয়ে দেখা দিয়েছিল শঙ্কা।
১৩তম আসরের সূচি প্রকাশেও করা হয় অনেক বিলম্ব। এরপর একাধিকবার সেই সূচিতে আনা হয় পরিবর্তন। এছাড়া ক্রিকেটার ও গণমাধ্যমকর্মীদের ভিসা জটিলতা, পাকিস্তান দলের ভেন্যু নিয়ে আপত্তি-সব মিলিয়ে বিশ্বকাপ শুরুর আগ থেকেই সমালোচনায় বিদ্ধ ভারত।
এদিকে, বিশ্বকাপে নিজেদের প্রথম ম্যাচ খেলার লক্ষ্যে ম্যাচ ভেন্যু ধর্মশালায় পৌঁছেছে বাংলাদেশ দল। অধিনায়ক সাকিব আল হাসানকে ছাড়াই সেখানে পা রাখেন তারা। ক্যাপ্টেন্স মিটে অংশ নেয়ার লক্ষ্যে টাইগারদের অধিনায়ক ছুটে গেছেন আহমেদাবাদে। সেই অনুষ্ঠান শেষে দলের সঙ্গে যোগ দেবেন তিনি।
৭ অক্টোবর আফগানিস্তানের বিপক্ষে বিশ্বকাপে নিজেদের প্রথম ম্যাচ খেলবে বাংলাদেশ।
