ঘরের মাটিতে অনুষ্ঠিত সিরিজ নির্ধারণী ম্যাচে ইংল্যান্ডের বিপক্ষে হেলে পানি পায়নি স্বাগতিক পাকিস্তান। দলের এমতাবস্থায় ভরসা পাচ্ছেন না সাবেক পাকিস্তানি পেসার শোয়েব আখতার। আসন্ন বিশ্বকাপের প্রথমপর্ব থেকেই বাদ পড়তে পারেন বলে মন্তব্য করেছেন তিনি।
সাত ম্যাচ সিরিজের প্রথম ছয় ম্যাচে তিনটি করে জেতে পাকিস্তান ও ইংল্যান্ড। তাই সপ্তম ও শেষ টি-টোয়েন্টিটি ছিল সিরিজ নির্ধারণী। স্বাগতিক হওয়ায় সিরিজ পাকিস্তান জিতবে বলে ধারণা করেছিলো সবাই। কিন্তু ভরসায় প্রতিদান দিতে পারেননি বাবর আজমরা।
দলের এমন পরিস্থিতি দেখে নিজের ইউটিউব চ্যানেলে সাবেক ডানহাতি পাকিস্তানি পেসার শোয়েব বলেন, ‘এটা আমি আগেই বলেছি, আমার ভয় হচ্ছে পাকিস্তান দল হয়তো বিশ্বকাপের প্রথম রাউন্ডেই ছিটকে যেতে পারে।’
পাকিস্তানের ব্যাটিং লাইনআপে নিয়ে তিনি বলেন, ‘দলের মিডল অর্ডারের অবস্থা খুবই খারাপ। ওপেনাররা পারফর্ম করতে না পারলে মিডল অর্ডার চাপে পড়ছে। এভাবে তো বিশ্বকাপে খেলা যায় না, যদি আপনি তা জিততে চান। এটা খুব দুঃখজনক।’
উল্লেখ্য, সিরিজ নির্ধারণী ম্যাচের শুরুতে ব্যাট করতে নেমে নির্ধারিত ২০ ওভারে ৩ উইকেটে তুলে ২০৯ রান। জবাবে ব্যাট করতে নেমে মাত্র ১৪২ রানে থামে পাকিস্তানের ইনিংস। ফলে ৬৭ রানের জয় নিয়ে সিরিজ জিতে নেয় ইংল্যান্ড।
