দ্বৈত নাগরিকত্ব ও তথ্য গোপনের অভিযোগে ঢাকা-১১ আসনে বিএনপি মনোনীত প্রার্থী ড. এম এ কাইয়ুমের প্রার্থিতা বাতিল চেয়ে করা রিট খারিজের আদেশের বিরুদ্ধে আপিল বিভাগে আবেদন করেছেন ১১ দলীয় জোটের প্রার্থী ও জাতীয় নাগরিক পার্টির (এনসিপি) আহ্বায়ক নাহিদ ইসলাম।

শনিবার (৭ ফেব্রুয়ারি) নাহিদ ইসলামের আইনজীবী অ্যাডভোকেট জহিরুল ইসলাম মূসা বিষয়টি ঢাকা পোস্টকে নিশ্চিত করেছেন।

তিনি বলেন, আগামীকাল চেম্বার বিচারপতির আদালতে এই আবেদনের ওপর শুনানি হতে পারে।

এর আগে, গত ৩ ফেব্রুয়ারি এম এ কাইয়ুমের প্রার্থিতার বৈধতা চ্যালেঞ্জ করে নাহিদ ইসলামের করা রিট সরাসরি খারিজ করে দেন হাইকোর্ট। বিচারপতি ফাহমিদা কাদের ও বিচারপতি মো. আসিফ হাসানের হাইকোর্ট বেঞ্চ এ আদেশ দেন।

আদালতে রিটের পক্ষে শুনানি করেন আইনজীবী মোহাম্মদ হোসেন লিপু, অ্যাডভোকেট জহিরুল ইসলাম মূসা। কাইয়ুমের পক্ষে শুনানি করেন অ্যাডভোকেট আহসানুল করিম, ব্যারিস্টার রুহুল কুদ্দুস কাজল, অ্যাডভোকেট মাহবুবুর রহমান খান, ব্যারিস্টার কাজী আক্তার হোসেন।

গত ২ ফেব্রুয়ারি দ্বৈত নাগরিকত্ব ও তথ্য গোপনের অভিযোগে ঢাকা-১১ আসনে বিএনপি মনোনীত প্রার্থী ড. এম এ কাইয়ুমের প্রার্থিতার বৈধতা চ্যালেঞ্জ করে রিট দায়ের করেন নাহিদ ইসলাম। রিটে কাইয়ুমের প্রার্থিতা স্থগিত চাওয়া হয়। প্রধান নির্বাচন কমিশনারসহ সংশ্লিষ্টদের রিটে বিবাদী করা হয়েছে।
