বাংলাদেশের তৈরি করোনাভাইরাসের টিকা বঙ্গভ্যাক্স মানুষের শরীরে পরীক্ষামূলক প্রয়োগের অনুমতি পেয়েছে গ্লোব বায়োটেক। তবে প্রয়োজনীয় কাঁচামালের স্বল্পতায় ট্রায়াল শুরু করতে দু-তিন মাস সময় লাগবে।
আজ রবিবার ঔষধ প্রশাসন অধিদপ্তর থেকে এই অনুমতি দেওয়া হয়। গ্লোব বায়োটেকের ব্যবস্থাপক ড. মো. মহিউদ্দিন এসব নিশ্চিত করেন।
ড. মহিউদ্দিন বলেন, ‘আমরা আজকে অনুমতি পেয়েছি। ট্রায়েল শুরু করতে দুই থেকে তিন মাস সময় লাগবে। আমরা এর আগে ট্রায়ালের জন্য যে কাঁচামাল সংগ্রহ করেছিলাম, সেগুলো ডেট এক্সপায়ার হয়ে গেছে। আমরা নতুন করে কাঁচামাল সংগ্রহ করব এবং সব প্রসেস কমপ্লিট করে ট্রায়ালে যাব।’
তারা ৬০ জনের ওপর ট্রায়াল করবেন জানিয়ে ডা. মহিউদ্দিন বলেন, ‘ট্রায়ালটা শেষ করতে আমাদের ৩৫ দিন সময় লাগবে।’
২০২০ সালের ২ জুলাই দেশে প্রথমবারের মতো করোনার টিকা আবিষ্কারের ঘোষণা দেয় গ্লোব বায়োটেক। এর প্রায় সাড়ে তিন মাসের মাথায় ১৫ অক্টোবর গ্লোব বায়োটেকের তিনটি টিকাকে অনুমোদনপ্রার্থীর তালিকায় অন্তর্ভুক্ত করে বিশ্ব স্বাস্থ্য সংস্থা।
পরে গত বছরের ১৭ জানুয়ারি বঙ্গভ্যাক্সের প্রথম ও দ্বিতীয় পর্যায়ের নীতিগত পরীক্ষার জন্য বাংলাদেশ মেডিকেল রিসার্চ কাউন্সিলের (বিএমআরসি) কাছে প্রটোকল জমা দেওয়া হয়। এরপর বিএমআরসির চাহিদা অনুযায়ী সংশোধিত প্রটোকল জমা দেওয়া হয় ১৭ ফেব্রুয়ারি। সবশেষ আজ ঔষধ প্রশাসন অধিদপ্তর থেকে গ্লোব বায়োটেকের করোনা প্রতিরোধের টিকা বঙ্গভ্যাক্স মানবদেহে পরীক্ষার অনুমতি দেওয়া হলো।
